Cabra Consulting Ltd. maintains a roster of 70+ experienced wellsite geologists, from twelve different countries, that are fully equipped for field operations. Every geologist must meet our acceptable standards of education and safety.

Our team has comprehensive and have proven experience drilling in multiple Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan resource plays, in under-balanced drilling, deep basin exploration and heavy oil & SAGD development.

We have a wealth of experience in all aspects of upstream geology services, from in office operations, geosteering, conventional geology, horizontal and heavy oil operations.

XRF SOLUTIONS

Chemical Solutions to Geological Problems

Cabra offers a industry leading XRF analysis through our Calgary based joint venture partner XRF Solutions Ltd. who specializes in the use X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) technology, providing the ability to log vertical and horizontal wells from a chemical perspective. Models derived from chemical elemental analysis assist in increasing hydrocarbon production while reducing exploration and completion costs.

Portable technology allows for rapid and relatively inexpensive way to collect large quantities of information. XRF instruments gather bulk rock chemistry of major and trace elemental information. Algorithms are applied to model a multitude of insightful geochemical logs. Logs suites include information about, mineralogy, rock property information, fluid analysis and geologic interpretations. XRF technology allows for chemical analysis in vertical and horizontal wells post-drilling or during drilling, without interfering with drilling operations. Analyses can be performed on drill cuttings or core in conventional, unconventional and heavy oil reservoirs. 

Our objective is to ensure clients find useable results in the chemical models and can integrate them into successful decision making at the geological and engineering level.

Cabra Consulting Ltd. has experienced, professional and dynamic teams available for its Heavy Oil clients. These teams cover a variety of technical disciplines including SAGD operations and corehole delineation drilling. Our consultants undergo Cabra’s proprietary geologic training placing us at the forefront of Heavy Oil field consulting.

With the changing landscape of LWD/MWD techniques, Cabra offers a comprehensive geosteering course covering basic, intermediate and advanced techniques including:

Proprietary Montney

This course introduces geologists to the Montney Formation and its Lower Doig equivalent, with emphasis placed on the sedimentological and palaeoenvironmental aspects of the current major tight gas resource play.

The Montney course is run by our in-house expert, Demian Robbins

CanStrat

CanStrat is an advanced sample logging course that must be completed by all Cabra geologists. This five-day course covers sample logging techniques and a systematic method of describing drill cuttings and core.

The result is standardized reporting between all Cabra geologists which can then be tailored to your specific needs.
